Samantha La Nuez

Born to Eternal Life October 18, 2025, with her beloved husband at her side holding her hand. Cherished wife and best friend of Dan. Beloved  daughter of Edward and Nancy Gorny.  Loving daughter-in-law of Danny and Cynthia La Nuez.   Dearest sister-in-law of Cristina La Nuez. She will also be dearly missed by countless friends, including her sorority sisters from Pi Beta Phi.

Samantha was an avid runner – completing one full marathon and 24 half-marathons. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Marquette University and was a huge Marquette Basketball fan.  But Marquette was more than just an alma mater to Samantha, it was where she formed life-long friendships with her Pi Beta Phi sisters and it was where she met and fell in love with her beloved husband, Dan.

Samantha enjoyed spending her downtime reading; there was never a time when she was not in the middle of a book.  But she would always put a book down to spend time with Dan.  They were inseparable – both loving music, food, and travel.  They attended countless concerts over the years – always taking advantage of the night out and having dinner out before the concert.

Samantha was passionate about travelling.  She travelled to 20 countries over the years – 17 of those were trips with Dan.  She stood on the shores of Easter Island and on top of a glacier in Iceland.  She was head-strong and insisted on living life to the fullest and with no regrets – insisting that she and Dan take one last trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming just a week before her passing.

Samantha’s infectious smile, never-quit attitude, and kind heart will be greatly miss by all who were fortunate to have known her.

Family and friends will gather at Heritage – Suminski/Weiss Funeral Home, 1901 N. Farwell Avenue, Milwaukee, WI  53202 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.  A Memorial Mass will be held at Three Holy Women Parish – Holy Rosary Church, 2011 N. Oakland Avenue, Milwaukee, WI  53202 at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 13, 2025.   Please arrive and be seated by 9:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, Dan has asked that donations in memory of Samantha be made to a scholarship fund that he and Samantha had established at Marquette University (Samantha and Daniel La Nuez Endowed Scholarship for MPS Students).  Please direct your gifts to Marquette University, P.O. Box 7013, Carol Stream, IL 60197, or make your gift online here and select “Other Fund Designation.”

Sam was like a sister to me. I will miss her good advise, her infinite smiles. We worked together for years and every time we had a stressed situation she was able to make the teams smile again. So many good memories. My sincere condolences to family and friends. Sam you will always be in our memories

Sam has been a great colleague. Ever smiling and helpful, she was the go-to person for many people, including myself. I relied so much on her inputs and advice. You will always be missed; Sam. May the almighty give the family and friends the strength to bear this immense loss.
