Entered his everlasting home in heaven on January 21, 2012, at the age of 81 years. Roger was born to Arthur and Carol Paap in Milwaukee, WI. On December 8, 1930. He became a child of God through baptism on December 28, 1930 at Christ Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. On March 2, 1944, publicly declared his saving faith in Jesus Christ in the rite of confirmation at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. His confirmation verse was Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Roger attended the A.E. Burdick grade school where he started playing the trumpet in the school band, orchestra and dance band. On December 15, 1951, Roger was united in marriage with Carla Mae Schreiber at Ascension Lutheran Church. Roger completed an apprenticeship and became a journeyman machinist at the Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company where he worked for 15 years. During that time he was called into the military, serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. In 1965 he joined the Franklin Police Department, where he worked for 20 years, retiring in 1985. Roger then went to Hayward, WI., where he owned and operated the Island View Campground. Roger was a life time member of the Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, WI. Roger became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Muskego on October 25, 1999 when he moved into the Stoney Creek Adult Community.
Roger was the beloved husband of the late Carla Mae nee Schreiber. He was the dear father of Ronald Debra Paap, Cynthia Soltis, Barbara Greg Dylak and Loren Paap. He was the loving grandfather of Scott Yumi Paap, Renee Richard Fosler, Timothy Cassie Paap and Kerry Soltis and the great-grandfather of James Paap and of Genevieve, Broderick and Brooke Fosler. Roger leaves his dearest friend and companion Dorothy Kraklow, whom he shared his life with for the past 30 years. He was preceeded in death by his parents and sister Joyce and her husband Carl Emmrich.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 26 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at theHeritage Funeral Home, 9200 S. 27th St, Oak Creek and will continue Friday at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, S 66 W 14325 Janesville Rd., Muskego, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00AM. Private interment Arlington Park Cemetery, Greenfield, WI.
