Robert J. Philipp

Age 66, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, August 15, 2014 surrounded by his family. Bob was the beloved husband of Mary (nee Hanlon) and adoring father to Sarah. Further survived by his mother Mary Ellen; brothers Tom (Barb), Chip (Patti), and sister Kate. Preceded in death by his father Ernest. Also survived by his Hanlon family, Edward (the late Betty), Brian (Sheri), Peggy (Tom), Jim (Paula), Ned (Norma), Sally, Jack (Heidi), Liz (Larry), and a clan of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews on both sides.

Bob attended Marquette University High School, Princeton University, and University of Wisconsin Law School. He practiced securities law since 1974. A highlight of his career was writing speeches for Attorney General Robert Warren (despite the always obligatory chicken jokes.)

The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Rehabilitation Unit at the Milwaukee Catholic Home, the compassionate staff of Gentiva Hospice, and of course, Annabelle for keeping her faithful vigil.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Bob’s honor (In Memory of Robert J. Philipp) appreciated to Golda Meir School 1555 N. Martin Luther King Dr. Milwaukee, WI 53215 or The Friends of the Domes 524 S. Layton Blvd. Milwaukee, WI 53212, an organization dear to his heart.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Old St. Mary’s Church, 836 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, from 5:00-6:00 pm, with Mass at 6:00 pm.

Karla and I just learned of this tonight and we are so sorry to hear the sad news. We are not able to be there tomorrow. We both have work commitments and mine takes me out of town. We wish all of you peace tomorrow and fond memories of Bob. We hope that you are able to focus on the best times you all shared together, and that you can help lift one another up during such a difficult time while remembering that Bob is home and that all of us will be seeing him again. Our thoughts are with you tonight. Love from Karla, Dana, and Dick.

Apparently I entered my sentiments to the guest book for the Journal Sentinal yesterday. I hope you ultimately see my message. I am so sorry to hear about Bob. All the best. The New Glarus Philipp Clan.
