Robert John Freudenwald, 81, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 in Racine at the Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Hospital.

Born in Racine on April 27, 1933, Robert was the son of Reuben and Ruth (Niesen) Freudenwald of Caledonia. Robert was a lifelong resident of Caledonia and a lifelong member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Caledonia.

After graduating from Lutheran High School in Racine in 1951, Robert joined the family automobile dealership in Caledonia which had been started by his father in 1921. After the early and unexpected death of his father in 1953, Robert operated the dealership (Freudenwald Oldsmobile), and he was soon joined by his younger brother Roger. They operated the dealership together as partners until 2006. Robert received the General Motors Corporation Award for fifty years as an Oldsmobile Dealer in 2004. He was also a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association and of the Wisconsin Automotive Trade Dealers Association.

On August 8, 1959, Robert was united in marriage to Marlene L. Morkert at the Leeds Ev. Lutheran Church in Leeds, N.D. They were married fifty-five years.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marlene, and four children: Mark, Karen (Edward) Dyke, Kathryn (all of Caledonia), and David (Jill) (of Shoreview, MN). Five grandchildren: Daniel and Amy Dyke; Nicholas, Andrew and Laura Freudenwald. Sister-in-law Gayle Freudenwald. Brother-in-law Sidney Morkert. Special Cousin Jean Schemel. Nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Reuben, mother Ruth, brother Roger, and brother-in-law Kenneth Morkert.

Funeral services for Robert will be held at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7900 Nicholson Rd., Caledonia on Saturday, November 1, at 11:30AM with Rev. David Wierschke officiating. Interment will follow at Caledonia Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00-11:30AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund have been suggested.
