Robert J
Schmidt

Schmidt, Robert J. III “Bob”
of Greendale passed away after living a full, vibrant life. Born to Eternal Life June 14th, 2010, age 78 years. Beloved husband of Joyce Wagenknecht. Dear father of Lori Mike Lutze of Brookfield, Robert Victoria of Franklin and William Renee of St. Louis, Missouri. Loving grandfather of Alexandra, Hunter, Taylor, Harrison, Jack and Julia. Fond brother of James Schmidt, Cocoa, Florida. Also survived by nieces, other relatives and friends.

Bob was born in Milwaukee to the late Robert and Elizabeth Schmidt. He married his sweetheart, Joyce Wagenknecht in 1959 and they began their lives together in Greendale. They were members of St. Alphonsus Catholic Parish. Bob spent the majority of his career with Pabst Blue Ribbon, in marketing and sales. He took great pleasure in his children’s lives, never missing their sports or other events. In retirement he remained active, playing tennis, golf, bocce and serving as emcee at numerous variety shows both in Milwaukee and their winter home in Estero, FL. He always said the warm weather felt like “a little slice of heaven”. He and Joyce spent all their years surrounded by a wonderful community of fun friends and family.

Bob will be remembered for his tremendous sense of humor. He could tell a joke like no other. Even with his grandchildren, he had a gift of playfulness and always made them laugh. He enjoyed traveling the world and taking in the highlights of every destination. His love for golf will live on through his collection of antique, wood shafted putters, too numerous to count.

Visitation Sat. June 19th, 9:30-11:45am at St. John Vianney, 1755 N. Calhoun Rd, Brookfield. Funeral Mass at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Down Syndrome Assoc. of WI or the School Sisters of St. Francis Guatemalan Orphanage appreciated.
