Robert “Bob” Moore

Robert “Bob” Moore, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, surrounded by the love of his family.  He and his wife, Betsy, were married for 56 loving years.

Bob was born and raised near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and attended Upper Darby Schools.  His college years were spent in Artesia, New Mexico, and Racine, Wisconsin, where he received a bachelor’s degree in history.  Following graduation, he joined the Army Reserves and then began a successful career in sales, during which he was the recipient of several awards.  His jobs in sales afforded him the opportunity to do one of his favorite things, connect with others, which he continued to do in his role as the Energy Education Coordinator for the Oak Creek-Franklin School District.

Bob had a quick wit, loved to laugh and could tell stories all day.  He loved being “silly grandpa” and was always willing to go the extra mile for a laugh from his grandchildren.

Bob believed in giving back to his community, so he spent countless hours volunteering throughout his life.  He loved being on the Little League Fields as an umpire, sharing his knowledge by training and mentoring young umpires, chaperoning field trips for special needs children, and being the official church dishwasher for many meals. He would also joyfully don his Santa hat to ring bells at Christmastime.

Bob was a longtime member of the South Milwaukee United Methodist Church and the Wisconsin Umpires Association. He was an avid reader of history and an expert on the Civil War.  Bob loved gardening and landscaping and enjoyed the wildlife that visited his yard, as well as the many dogs and cats that came into his life throughout the years. He spent many hours in his workshop creating memorable projects and gifts.

He enjoyed family road trip adventures while listening to music and drinking Coca Cola. His favorite destinations included historical sites, the Jersey shore and the Montana mountains.

Bob was fortunate to be able to help others and enjoy life for the past 23 years because he received the ultimate gift of life, a heart transplant, and we wish to extend our love and thanks to the Fisher family for their extraordinary gift.

Bob was the loving father of John (Sarah) and Cheryl (Ben) and proud grandfather to MacKenzie and Anna, who brought smiles, joy and laughter to his life.

Bob is further survived by his loving wife, Betsy, his brother Alan (Rita), sister-in-law Peg, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who filled his life with love and laughter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 AM until 12 PM at South Milwaukee United Methodist Church, 1327 Marshall Ave., South Milwaukee. A service will follow at 12 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to South Milwaukee United Methodist Church, the Wisconsin Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.

Bob will be deeply missed by family, friends and his cat Calli. He will always be in our hearts.
