Found peace after 15 years fighting Alzheimer’s on June 11, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Preceded in death by his loving wife Trudy of 56 years. Dear father of Rick Kathy, Steve Sue, John Cindy, and Barbara Mike Hoffmann. Dear Opa to Bryan Danielle, Amy Dan Svensson, Mark, Katie Josh Wahl, Nick, Kristie, Thomas, Eric, Kyle, and Jared. Great Opa to Ella and Lucas Svensson. Further survived by sisters-in-law Pauline Kasper, Liba Daub, Kay Daub, brother-in-law Edward Daub, Special friend Harvey Andersen, nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues and former students.

Dick’s accomplishments include serving in the Army Medical Corps working with wounded WWII soldiers, graduated from UW-Milwaukee, played football for North Division- Marquette University-and Camp Grant, 38 years teaching in Greendale, Football coach at GHS, Basketball coach at Greendale Intermediate, 17 years of leadership with the Special Olympics, Red Cross volunteer and numerous awards for Phy Ed achievements. The family would like to thank the Elizabeth Residence of Franklin for the special loving care they gave to “Coach”. A thank you to the Hartland Hospice for their care.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday June 22, 2008 at 5PM at Greendale Community Church 6015 Clover Lane. Interment Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday at the Greendale Intermediate school gym 6800 Schoolway, from 1 until 4PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to Special Olympics or the charity of your choice appreciated.
