The Reverend Paul G. Eckert of Hales Corners, Wisconsin was called home to eternal glory in heaven by his Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2024 at the age of 93 years. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Reverend Otto and Gertrude Eckert on April 16,1931.  He knew from a young age that he wanted to be a pastor and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin  in 1957.  His first call to preach God’s Word was to congregations in both Sault St. Marie, Canada and Cedarville, Michigan where he served until 1959. He was called to St. Jacobi Lutheran Church of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in 1959,  where he faithfully served for over 55 years, building God’s church on earth and touching the lives and hearts of countless numbers of people.  During these years of service he also served the church at large in many elected and appointed positions.  He married his beautiful bride, the late Judith Anne Kleist on September 21, 1957 and together they had 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage and truly loved each other and their time together. Pastor Eckert was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Judith (nee Kleist), as well as by his parents, the Rev. Otto and Gertrude Eckert and siblings Otto Eckert and Adela Spaude.

Dear father of Mark (Ruth), Beth (Mark) Rumler, Nancy (Jon) Soderquist, Joyce (Tim) Hintz, John, Philip (Kristina), and Amy (Joel) Grulke.  Proud grandpa of Alexander Eckert, Danny (Angela) Rumler, Mandy (Nate) Beth, Andrew (Bridgette) Rumler, Jessica Soderquist, Rachel Soderquist, Melissa (Jason) Preis, Michelle (Jason) Free, Ryan (Tai) Hintz, Caitlyn (Christopher) Fowler, Stephanie Hintz,  Addy (Matt) Keese,  Isabella Eckert, Callahan Eckert, Anne (Matt) Dubinski,  Nathan Grulke, Jonathan Grulke, Lucas Grulke, Caleb Grulke and Kathryn Grulke.  Great grandfather of Beau and Audra Rumler, Emmett and Bellyn Beth, Evelyn Rumler, Duncan and Garrett Preis,  Gideon, Cora and Margot Free, Judah and Benjamin Keese and Rome Dubinski.  Brother of Anita (Don) Nagy.  Also survived by many other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation at St. Jacobi Ev. Lutheran Church (8605 W. Forest Home Ave.) Tuesday July 9, 2024 from 3PM-6PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 6PM.  Interment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

    All good memories of the time Pastor Eckert served St. Jacobi Church. I’m happy to hear he is now enjoying his sweet eternity in heaven with Jesus. I am not able to travel to Milwaukee to attend the funeral, but please accept my condolences.
