Groothuis, Ralph A

of Caledonia was called home to the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2022 surrounded by his family, age 85. Beloved husband of Carmen (Brusewitz) for 62 years. Dear father of Linda Groothuis, the late Eugene Groothuis, Tami (Kevin) Grant, and Wendy Galvan. Grandfather of Eugene (Nicole) Galvan and Taylor Grant. Preceded in death by his parents Lubbert, Frieda, and Margaret, six brothers and three sisters. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Ralph had many passions and hobbies. He was a leader in the community and was a member of many community organizations. He was a charter member of the Caledonia Lions Club and was a founding member of the Caledonia Sno Lords snowmobile club. He also was a veteran of the Army and enjoyed being a member of American Legion Harvey Funk Post 494.

Ralph loved to do just about anything outdoors, and he enjoyed sharing that passion with his family. He loved camping, snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting. Also, he could be found tinkering in the garage on his many lawnmowers, snowmobiles, and tractors. He liked going for rides on his Harley with Carmen and other family and friends.

To know Ralph, was to love him. He was kind, funny, and loving. He was larger than life and made a positive impact on everyone he knew.

Our family is so sorry for the loss of our special Uncle Ralph. He was always there for me during the hardest times while my dad and mom were In their final days. I wish I could have seen him and hugged him one more time. Life just seems to get away from us.
God bless you all at this time. My love is with you. Uncle Ralph was one of a kind.
