Phyllis was offered a college scholarship, but couldn’t accept because of the extra costs of college during the years of the Depression. She graduated from high school at 16, a member of the National Honor Society, and immediately accepted a job at South Milwaukee Bank. While raising her children she continued to hold several responsible positions, with her last position at Ehlert Tool Mfg where she remained 15 years as Office Manager and Accountant. Phyllis and Rudy moved to Bella Vista, AK in 1985 where they built a beautiful home but returned to Milwaukee after 15 years. Their church in Bentonville, AK elected Phyllis to be their first Financial Secretary. Until surgeries and illness set in, she delighted in entertaining and sharing a good laugh with friends. Phyllis loved to cook and bake and share those skills with many. Meeting celebrities was a particular joy and keeping several as friends was even better. She tried to treat everyone fairly and be kind to the underprivileged.
