Patricia Lou Berger entered eternal life on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was 88 years old.

Born September 21, 1935, Patricia was one of six girls and grew up on a farm in Deerfield, Wisconsin. On the farm, where they raised dairy cows and pigs and grew tobacco, life was hard and money was tight. Despite the hardship, Patricia’s favorite memories included spending time with her grandmother and making homemade dolls with her sisters.

While living with her sister Dot, she met her husband, Richard, who was fixing the family’s radio, as his way of saying thank you for a ride back from Fort McCoy. He was instantly smitten with Patricia and the two began dating in August 1951. They were married on April 19, 1952, and moved to Milwaukee’s East Side, which they called home for years before buying land and building their forever home in Muskego. As a mother of four, she received an associate’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University, and worked as a dietetic technician at Villa Clement. During her time at Villa Clement, she filed a patent for a food tray with a menu holder, and Richard created the prototype.

Later in life, Patricia’s passion was sharing Jesus with others. She played songs of worship on her autoharp for shut-ins and shared God’s Word through jail ministry. She faithfully served her Lord as a prayer minister at Hales Corners Lutheran Church, her home church for over 50 years, and was an active member of and volunteer with Aglow International.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard H. Berger, and her sisters Dorothy “Dot” Shutterly, Betty J. Lester, Eileen Gossett, and Grace Burkeland.

She is survived by her daughters Marlena Berger (Rod Sidle), Marianne Berger, Nancy (Ralph) Schumacher, and Barbara (James) Dailey; grandchildren Amanda (Zach) Beierle, A.J. Dailey, David (Melissa) Schumacher, Steve (Lindsey) Schumacher, and Jeff Schumacher; great-grandchildren Colette Schumacher, Sawyer Schumacher, Cooper Schumacher, and Colton Schumacher; sister Bonnie Kingswan and numerous family, friends, and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Patricia touched the lives of all who met her—she was known for her big hugs, generous heart, and fiercely praying spirit.

Patricia lived her Christian faith boldly and witnessed to hundreds during her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and fellow prayer warriors.
