Michael “Mickey” J. Mahler

Mickey was born on 3-22-47 in Milwaukee to Michael Mahler and Mildred Mahler (Schmid).
Dear brother of Melody (Dennis) Skusek and Marshall (Vicki) Mahler. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Robert, Thomas, Royce and Richard. His sisters Judith and Maralee. Also survived by many, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Even though he lost his eye site to Glaucoma, he made sure he made contact with all by voice text. Whether it was a simple hello, BD or holiday greeting or a text chat about his favorite Wisconsin sport team, he always stayed in contact.

He graduated from Emmanuel Lutheran School, West Division High School and proud graduate of UWM. He worked for Lutheran churches in the area for many years as a social worker. Later in life, he worked at Colders and Sears. He was a proud member of Villages Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for many years.

Mickey loved his God, his family, dogs, bowling and singing. Hope you all saw his 300 bowling ring that he is proudly is wearing on his finger today. In his younger years he was a really good volleyball and baseball player.

His great love was all Wisconsin sports. Just like his Mom, he was an avid Brewers, Packers, Bucks, Marquette and Badgers fan. I can just picture all our family in heaven getting together to cheer our teams on together. Mickey can now join the family sheepshead games up there too. He will be right in there yelling out “take it or smear”!!

So many people to thank. The family would like to thank Pastor Donna who visited and gave Mickey support for many years. We also would like to thank Vernita and other aides at BrightFaith Assisted Living who lovingly took care of Mickey. Also, Rachel, his Aurora at Home hospice nurse who was so kind and gave him support last couple of months. Abigail and Carolyn at My Choice were also so kind and helpful to Mickey. We also owe many thanks to Dr Mannino, his internist. His knowledge, expertise and kindness I truly believe kept Mickey going well past what we thought. And lastly, we would like to give thanks to Cindy, who truly was his angel on earth.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024 at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME  4800 S. 84th St. from 2 PM until the time of service at 3:30 PM. Private family burial at a later date at Arlington Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Village Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee.

Rest in peace Mickey. We love you.

My condolence to Mike’s family on his passing. We met back in the 60’s at the old downtown YMCA where he was a lifeguard. As the years went on we enjoyed numerous Packer and Brewer games together. As well as being on a bowling league together I will never forget the camping weekends at Jack and Judy’s trailer. And although we lost contact with each other the past several years I cherish the memories of time spent. Thank you Mike for the friendship. God Bless
