Matt Lyman

Matt passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 43. He was the beloved husband of Kelly (nee Janiszewski) and a proud and devoted dad to Jackson and the late Hudson. He was the cherished son of Vern and Linda (nee Milkie) and a loving brother to Chad and Casey (Kristie). Matt was an adored uncle to Carter, Belle, and Colton. He was the dear son-in-law of Steven “Harpo” and Heidi Janiszewski and brother-in-law to Sara (Jason) Samonds and Abby Janiszewski. He was the grandson of Don and Joan Milkie and the late Vern and Grace Lyman. Matt will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, including his family, many friends, and especially his lifelong best friend, Matt Lazarski.

Born and raised in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Matt carried his hometown pride with him wherever he went. He was a devoted Wisconsin sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Packers, Bucks, and Brewers through every season, remaining loyal no matter how the teams were doing. He especially loved attending live sporting events, whether with family or even by himself, simply enjoying the experience and atmosphere. Matt had a passion for poker and treasured his guys’ trips to Las Vegas, which were filled with laughter and lasting memories.

Above all, Matt’s greatest joy was his family. He loved vacationing together and recently made special memories on trips to Florida, San Diego, and Mexico. Whether traveling or at home, he cherished time spent playing cards with his family, always bringing energy, laughter, and a competitive spirit to the table. Matt was known for being loud, fun, and full of life—someone everyone loved having around. His presence will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Matt will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOMES (9200 S. 27th St., Oak Creek, WI) from 3–6 PM, with a prayer service to follow at 6 PM. A Mass will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at DIVINE MERCY PARISH (800 Marquette Ave., South Milwaukee, WI) at 11 AM.

Vern, may God comfort you and your family’s heart as you lay Matt to rest. I can feel the beauty of his spirit as I watch the amazing video of him and your family. Be comfort by his love always. He looks a lot like you.

    Dear Kelly

Marilyn and I are so sorry for you and Jackson’s loss.
We have known the Lyman family for a long time. Our children Mike, Amy and Doug grew up with Matt, Chad and Casey.
Our pool was always full in the summer. Sometimes kids and other times apples from baseball. I should have stopped Vern when he was planting all the trees.
The pictures at the visitation show a lot of love and good memories. In some i saw a 4th blond haired kid with the Lyman boys named Doug.
Our condolences to the Lyman family.
Put your trust in the Lord, he will answer your prayers.
