Mary Jung (Nee Drewek)

“Mushroom Mary”
February 28,1954 – March 13, 2024
Mary was a warrior. A people person. Always ready to talk to anyone and help everyone. Among her many passions were Mushroom picking, sea glass collecting, darts, playing cards, going to bingo and visiting casinos with family and friends.
Mary enjoyed driving, not always sure where she would go. Sometimes visiting friends, shopping at the Amish Store, farmer’s markets or stopping every mile to check her favorite mushroom spots. She was often seen in the woods with her hiking stick foraging. She was happiest in nature.
Mary worked over 40 years at Ez Painter/Shurline and was Union steward for Steel Worker’s Union. Mary graduated from Pulaski High School 1972.
Mary is survived by her loving sister, Stephanie St John (Mike). Devoted Aunt to Michael Daugherty (Sean Young), Katlyn Rafalski (Patrick), Sarah Daugherty, Robert Drewek (Adrienne), Amy Whittamore (Scott). Further survived by caring cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Mary was loved by so many. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jung. Parents, Al and Jean Drewek. Brother, Allen Drewek.
The best way to remember Mary is to plant a tree or flower in her memory.
Morels in her “secret spots” will be safe this spring.

Met Mary while playing darts at the Kelly Senior Center in Cudahy in 2022. She always had a big smile and a bit of mischief in her soul!! Loved her spirit. Mary sure did love nature. We took a couple walks in Sheridan and Grant Park, Yes, she was looking for her mushrooms. LOL Oops, almost forgot our walk through Emerald Reserve in Drexel Square, Oak Creek. That day we were looking for the turtles. So fun. Loved listening to her stories of growing up Mary was always a joy to be with. Even with all her medical problems, she never complained and always upbeat. Mary was a very special person.

I meet Mary through her Sister Stephanie. Mary was the type of person that when you meet her you became friends. I remember having game night with her and her friends and neighbors we always had a good time. She was a very knowledgeable and dedicated shrum picker she and her friend traveled everywhere to find the best it was amazing to listen to her and follow her on Facebook. When you went over to her house she would always offer you the large variety of mushrooms she had picked . There were dehydrated, canned and recipes she made with mushrooms in it , she should have written a book. She was a very warm hearted women. She was always into new adventures like the time she was harvesting Worm fertilizer from their feces and it’s one of the best you can use for gardening. Her house was filled with plants she was like the plant 🪴 Doctor. Every year she had a delicious vegetable garden that Her sister and her would grow.
To know her was to love her she will be missed.
    Rest in Peace Mary❤️
