Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Hales Corners, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave. on Tues., March 15, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Tim Kitzke at 12:00 Noon.

Mary Guiffre

Greenfield – Passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022 at Layton Terrace while under hospice care at the age of 102.  Mary was born in Messina, Sicily on February 10, 1920 and came to the US through Ellis Island as an infant.

She is preceded in death by her parents Guiseppe and Cona (nee Santoro); her brothers Rosario (Regina) and Nick (Dorothy), her sister Rosaria “Rose” (John) Martell and brother-in-law John Cascio.

Mary is survived by her loving sister Carmella “Camille” Cascio and numerous nieces and nephews (and their families), cousins and friends.

Mary graduated from Lincoln High School and the Milwaukee Vocational School.  She served in the US Navy as a Wave during WWII and retired from the Navy Reserves after 20 years of service.  After the Navy, she worked for the Veterans Administration and the US Army.  She enjoyed volunteering for Festa Italiana, various church functions and other community activities.  She was also named Volunteer of the Year for service to the City of Greenfield Senior Center.  She was most proud to participate in the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C,

Her family wishes to thank the entire staff at Layton Terrace Assisted Living for their kind and compassionate care of Mary.  We would also like to thank VITAS Hospice for their care of Mary over the past few weeks.  She is now at peace.  She will forever be loved and missed.

If desired, memorials to Three Holy Women Parish (1716 N. Humboldt Ave. Milwaukee, WI  53202) are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
