Geiger, Mary Eunice

(nee Wade) March 17, 2011, age 91 years. Born in Yorkville, WI to Allan and Ann (nee Sherlock) Wade on January 24, 1920. Mary lived in several Wisconsin towns while growing up, including Yorkville, Green Lake, Shawano, and Rhinelander. She also lived in England as a young child. Mary graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1939 and Milwaukee Downer College in 1943. She taught high school English and French in both DePere and Wabeno and also served as school librarian. She married Roy Tomcy in the early 1950’s. Unfortunately, Roy died in the early 1960’s. Mary later married Louis Geiger on August 7, 1967, which is when Mary made Milwaukee her permanent home. Mary and Louis often spent time at their home on Lake George near Rhinelander. Mary lost her beloved Louis on April 3, 2003. He was buried in Laona, WI.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and two sisters, Audrey White and Linda Wilmot. She is survived by a niece, Barbara Dixon, and three nephews: Charles Wilmot, James White, and Thomas White and their spouses. She is also survived by four grandnieces, four grandnephews and sixteen great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Mary is fondly remembered by many former students and friends both in the Milwaukee area and throughout Wisconsin and the U.S. Mary’s family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to Patty Care Services and all the caregivers and special thanks to Mary MacArthur and the support from the Trustee.

The family will have an inurnment service in June at the cemetery in Laona, WI. Friends of Mary are most welcome to attend this service. If desired, memorials to the Tomcy-Geiger Memorial Scholarship Fund, Wabeno High School, 4325 N. Branch St., Wabeno, WI 54566.
