(nee Teweles) passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 85 years

Dearest wife of Simon Bernstein; preceded in death by husband Julian Hytken. Loving and proud mother of Betsy (Paul), Alice, Paul (Susan), Sara (Joe), Risa (Stefano) and Judy (Steve). Loving grandmother of Jesse, Taylor, Sarah (Raymond), Casey, Max, Hillary, Rachel, Alex and David, and great-grandmother to Leah, Chloe and Kai. Further survived by loving brothers Bob (Karen) and Bill (Nicole), and sister-in-law Anna Rose. Special aunt to Josh, Ben, Tracy, Leah, Gillian, Julia, Peggy and Harriet.

Mary Ann was born in Milwaukee, WI where she lived and raised her family. Her greatest joys were Hike, Simon, family and friends. Mary Ann was a founding member of Congregation Sinai in Milwaukee, member of Congregation Sinai Sisterhood and a member of Temple Beth Israel in Sarasota. She was active in the Milwaukee community and a participant in the Jewish Family Service Volunteer Program with the elderly. Mary Ann enjoyed creating art-fabric collages. She felt that she was blessed with equally wonderful first and second marriages. The family extends special thanks to caregiver Robbin and masseuse/friend Yvette for their friendship and support.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Suminski / Weiss Funeral Home, burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Shiva/gathering of friends and family will follow at Chai Point, 1400 N. Prospect Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann requested donations to All Faiths Food Bank in Sarasota Florida, Jewish Family Services in Milwaukee or Second Harvest in Milwaukee.
