Mark R. Junkans
Passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, he was 55 years old. Mark was the beloved husband of Tara and the proud father of Jared. He was the loving son of Ronald Junkans and the late Ruth Stone. He was a dear brother and friend to Leah (James) Steil and the fond uncle of Joshua. Mark is further survived by other relatives, countless friends, teammates and colleagues.
“Coach Junk” was a devoted hockey fan and coach and brought the same dedication and energy to the rink that he brought to every aspect of his life. Hockey wasn’t just a sport to him, it was a lifelong love that connected him with friends, family and his community.
When he wasn’t on the ice, Mark found solace and joy in music and playing guitar. It was through his passion for music that Mark and Tara found a love which would last until his passing. Mark found his true purpose in life when becoming a father to Jared and reveled in sharing his love of guitar and hockey with him. These common interests created a bond that so few fathers and sons blessed to share.
Mark was known for his warmth, sense of humor, and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in every guitar chord played and every puck dropped.
Family and friends will gather at Heritage Funeral Home, 9200 S. 27th Street in Oak Creek on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM to celebrate Mark’s life and share memories.
If desired, memorials to the American Heart Association are greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Sending hugs and prayers
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family . 🙏🙏 Mark had been my salesman For Daikin Goodman distribution out of molwakee for many years. He was probably one if not the best salesman I have ever had. Very professional at his job. And really always stepped up to the plate to make sure I had everything I needed. He will be a hard man to replace. 🙏🙏🙏
Tara, I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words that can express appropriately how much I wish you comfort. Praying for you and your family.
Tara, – I’m so sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. Sending prayers to you, Jared and your family.
Tara, my condolences to you and your son Jared, thinking of you.
Tara and Jared I’m am so sorry to hear about Mark’s passing.
What a blessing Mark was not only to me as a friend but also to my company. I had the pleasure of working with Mark for close to 20 years at D&J and another 8 years as a contractor. You won’t find anyone with a bigger heart than his! His passion was helping others be the best they could. The world lost an amazing man and heaven gained a solder!
We were so lucky to have met Coach Junk last spring. He made such an impact on our kids and reminded everyone how to just have fun and love the game. He made such a big impact on all of us in such a short time. He will be greatly missed. We are so saddened by his passing. Sending love to you Tara and Jared from all the Eddys.
What a beautiful slide show. I had no clue that Mark had such a love for guitars What I do know is that Matk was an awesome hockey coach and that his smile lit up every room and conversation that he walked in on. I had the pleasure of coaching on ice at SHAW with Mark. The problem was that I didn’t know how to skate worth anything and I had never played before His reaponse, “Don’t worry about it.” He made me feel so welcome and valued me on the ice regardless! Mark, you will be missed. But I will still see you around through the amazing young man that you have raised, Jared. Tara, I wish I could be there today but I’m on a trip I ask the good Lotd to send his spirit apon all of you this evening.
