Mami and I shared a parallel life with each other for 50 years. My life with Pablo Jr. was very much the mirror of her life with Pablo Sr. Father and son had many same traits in their personality and life. Mami and I could glance each others way at given moments in time and we knew exactly what the other was thinking. During her later years after Pablo Sr. had passed, we spent much of our times together doing comparison checks and it made us laugh to see how identical our lives were. This became a bond between us that drew us ever closer. When Pablo Jr. passed, it tore my heart apart and destroyed hers. She missed him so much and her fragile body couldn’t withstand the agony of losing her child. In the last few months we always ended our visits saying “I love you” and she would say “don’t forget me” and I always replied “I won’t forget you”. And Mami … I won’t forget you.

All my love,
your daughter-in-law … Genny
