Flatow

Age 92, of Oak Creek, WI, passed away on January 5, 2024. She was born on October 3, 1931, to Elmer and Maurion Legler. Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her children, Scott (Nancy) Flatow, Melody (Joseph) Mlagan, and Michael (JayEllen) Flatow. She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren, Tina (Robert) Jepsen, James (Allison) Flatow, Kimberly (Shane) Pearce, John Mlagan, Daniel (Jen) Mlagan, Nicholas Flatow, Dustin Flatow, and her great-grandchildren, Alex and Joshua Jepsen, Kensi Flatow, Ean and Skylar Pearce, Madison and Harper Mlagan, and Wyatt James Flatow/Meyers. She is also survived by her brothers Ronald and Brian and sister Virginia.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard “Dick” Flatow, and sister Nancy Pietz.

Peggy had a vibrant personality and was actively involved in various clubs and social activities throughout her life. She was a dedicated leader of the 4-H club, served as a Cub Scout Leader at Edgewood grade school, and was the PTO President. Peggy also took pride in being a Brownie Girl Scout leader at Cedar Hills and served as the President of the Hickory Grove Home Makers Club. She was a Sunday School teacher at Oak Creek United Methodist Church and held the position of Regent twice for the Jacques Vieau Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

One of Peggy’s greatest joys was traveling with her family. She embarked on numerous trips and “mystery tours” with her husband, creating cherished memories. Peggy was especially proud of the three trips she made to Scotland with her grandchildren, where they were able to explore their ancestral roots together.

In her professional life, Peggy drove a school bus for 28 years, working with the Bestway bus company. She was dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the students she transported.

 

In her spare time, Peggy found great fulfillment in her role as a member and Former Regent and Honorary Regent of the Jacques Vieau Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her passion for history and lineage was evident in her commitment to the organization. She also enjoyed indulging her wanderlust, embarking on many trips both for fun and for genealogy research opportunities.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 18th from 9:30-11AM at Heritage Funeral Homes, 9200 S. 27th St.  A Funeral Service will follow at 11AM.

    We met Peggy and Dick on many Bus trips.
    We have been to her home a few times too. We had a wonderful friendship. We were 20 years younger than Peggy. We are both sadded by her death. Her friends: Ellen Marie Jasinski and Barbara Walker from Milwaukee.

    Peggy was a friend of mine on Facebook, she always commented on my post & we formed a friendship. Thereafter She was/ is a lady of Grace and intelligence and definitely matter of fact. I know the Angel’s were there to pick her up and take her home, rest easy in paradise sweet lady till we all meet again.
