She was the greatest aunt you could believe. Seeing her gave me happiness, just a hug and kiss from her made me smile. I share so many memories, too many to share. It was very odd without her on Christmas. She was the one who usually started singing the songs. There was a one minute pause before we sang, because everyone was too shy to sing first, leading everyone else to sing. Marastante Aunt Mara in Latvian always started. But, we’ll get over this loss. I hope she has fun in heaven.

Mara was a friend and co-worker at Brookfield East High School. I’ve known her for nearly five years and have enjoyed getting to know her during that time, especially at lunch when we could relax. She had a wonderful rapport with the kids and was a big influence in their lives. I dearly miss seeing her at school each day. My sympathy to her family.

Mara was a friend in HS and I have many fond memories of her. She was also my introduction to the country of Latvija and I always looked for her at the Holiday Folk Fair. I am saddened to hear of her passing. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
