Lois Jean Schachtschneider
Lois Jean Schachtschneider went home to be with Jesus on August 3, 2026, at the age of 76. She was the beloved wife of Jim for 49 years; the loving mother of Jill (Nate) Archer, Megan (Brad) Wetzel, Peter (Joanna), and Steve (Kayla); and the proud grandma of Ella, Blake, Braxten, Kaden, Chase, Cole, Kam, Colin, Axel, and Felix. She was also the sister of Sue (the late Roger), Tom (Diane), Tim, and the late Steve and is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Lois lived with deep faith in Jesus as her Savior and a heart devoted to her family and the children she taught.
She served as an elementary teacher for many years in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Her teaching journey began at Fairview Lutheran School in Milwaukee where she met Jim. She also taught at St. Paul’s in Cudahy, St. Matthew’s in Milwaukee, and Faith in Milwaukee.
Lois loved everything Disney and treasured the trips she and Jim took to Walt Disney World creating special memories with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and anything written by Debbie Macomber. She loved shopping at craft fairs and antique shops. She also found joy in attending everything her grandchildren were involved in-cross country races, band concerts, football games, basketball games, baseball games, plays, concerts, graduations, NHS inductions, parades, and anything else where she could be a proud grandma. She also had an amazing collection of magnets.
Lois had a great sense of humor and could find a witty comment in any situation. She loved teasing Jim and other members of the family who could usually give it right back to her. We had many laughs in her presence and always wondered what she would say next.
Lois made sure her children grew up knowing Jesus and therefore this was passed to her grandchildren. We are all now living in the faith that we will see her again someday where she will be free from all sin and sickness. Our hearts will be hurting on earth but we will look forward to our joyful reunion in heaven.
My heart goes out to the family! What can I say but THANK YOU Lois ! for dealing w/us kids when we would come over to hang with Jill and Megan. Sometimes leaving a mess in the basement LOL!. thank you for making such wonderful kids!
We are so very sorry for your loss as Lois was a wonderful person. We have known her since when she taught at St. Paul’s Cudahy. Our daughters Megan and Sarah were best friends throughout Grade School and High School besides the fact that they both were on WLHS cheerleading together and we sat through many football, basketball games and cheerleading competitions together. Still remember going to Disney World to watch our daughters compete in Nationals. (Twice) It was always a great time and Lois was an easy person to talk to with alot of laughs to go around. Our prayers go to Jim and your family that God will give you much peace knowing Lois is safely in her Heavely home with her Savior now. We know how much she will be missed here. Our sincere condolences. Both of our sons had Mrs. S as their second grade teacher at St Pauls. We all loved her!
