LaVerne M. Karling

Karling, LaVerne M (nee Verduin) 91, went home to be with Jesus on January 30, 2013 while residing at the home of her granddaughter.

She was born in Milwaukee, November 6, 1921 to Edward and Clara (Grzanna) Verduin. She married Robert Leslie Karling August 2, 1946 at Garfield Baptist Church, Milwaukee, WI. She was employed at Wieman’s Store during her early years, volunteered at PTA’s in the New Berlin Schools, helped with scouting, worked part-time later at Ben Franklin in New Berlin where they lived and raised their three children. They later moved to Beloit in 1972.

They were members at Trinity Wesleyan Church in Milwaukee and Beloit Central Christian Church in Beloit for many years. They were volunteers at a homeless shelter and LaVerne volunteered for many years at Premiere Care in Beloit.

She is survived by her daughters Bonnie (Duane) Cline and Shirlee (Rick) Jensen, daughter-in-law Janette Karling (Cliff), ten grandchildren, Robert, C. Eric, and Julie Karling, Arron Cline, Renae King, Leann School, Cheryl Antkowski, Heather Czosnek, Nick and Alex Holmberg, six step grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, her sister Virginia (Earl) Labahn, her brother Edward (Laura) Verduin, three brother-in-laws, John, Jium, and Tom Karlin, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her son Clifford, infant brother Harold, her sister Lorraine, sister-in-laws June and Sharon.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 1, 2013, from 11-12:30, at the FUNERAL HOME, with a Funeral Service at 12:30. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Racine County.

Memorials may be given to Central Christian Church, Beloit, WI or charity of your choice.
