Kristine Marie Ciombor

(nee Koch) Passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the age of 69.  Beloved wife of LeRoy.  Dear sister of Karen (Don) McCarty, Kay Ellen (David) Flick, and Jeff (Linda) Koch.  Caring sister-in-law of Shirley (John) Orzechowski, Diane (Brian) Paff, JoAnne (Mark) Miller, and Walter (Ann).  Preceded in death by her parents Milton and Elizabeth “Betty” Koch.  Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Kristine earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in botany from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and worked as the director of the Mitchell Park (Domes) Conservatory for many years until she retired in 2005.  She was a member for 38 years of the Mycological Society where she acted as Vice-President, a member at large, board member, and an executive officer.  Kristine also acted as the interim Education Assistant for the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens.

Kristine was a member of the South Milwaukee Yacht club for 35 years.  She enjoyed traveling the world and scuba diving with her diving group.

Special thanks to all the family, friends, the staff from Castle Senior Living Hospice, and physicians for their help and kindness through this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held with family and friends at a later date.

    I’m sorry to learn of Kris’s death. I knew her through working in the parks department.. She had a great sense of humor and a ready smile and easy laugh. My sympathy to the family.
