Kathryn “Kathy” Madole

Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Madole passed away on December 5, 2025, at The Woods, Greenfield, WI. She was born in Oconomowoc, WI, on March 27, 1943 to William and Leona (nee Kertz) Madole. After a childhood spent living on Anderson Street, going to Oconomowoc Public Schools and working in her uncle’s drugstore downtown, she attended Dominican College in Racine, WI where she earned a degree in teaching. After a few years teaching in various Catholic schools in SE Wisconsin, Kathy moved to Oak Creek, WI, and spent the rest of her 30+ year career teaching second grade there. In the latter years of her career, she even taught the children of some of her first students.

When she wasn’t working, Kathy led an active life with family and friends, traveling around the country and the world. She particularly loved reminiscing about her trips to Disney, Hawaii, Brazil, and Ireland. She visited her family whether in Green Bay or Denver whenever she got the chance – it was something she looked forward to most of all.

Kathy never met anyone with whom she couldn’t have a full and interesting conversation, making friends easily with people from all walks of life. In quiet times, Kathy loved to watch the birds and butterflies in her wooded yard in Greendale. In the past few years as she endured many visits to Froedtert and moved into assisted living at The Woods, she kept her cheerful attitude and charmed all who came in contact with her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Leona, and her half-sister, Mary Jane. She is survived by extended family and friends throughout the country. Her family wishes to thank all of the healthcare professionals at the Woods, Froedtert, Harbor Chase, and others who helped Kathy in the last few years with her adaptions to her health challenges.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes, 3722 S. 58th Street, Milwaukee, WI, 53220 from 10:00 am until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow at Church.

Burial will be at a later date at St. Jerome’s Cemetery in Oconomowoc, WI.

I just learned of Kathy’s passing when my birthday text to her did not go through. Kathy was a niece to Joe Kertz, who was married to one of my dad’s cousins, Marion. There were precious memories of times spent with Kathy and the Kertzs’. Kathy was like their daughter. She was so helpful. I got to visit Kathy at the Woods on one of my Wis trips. Please let me know zmabout the May service. I am retired from Americzn Airlines znd only a flight away! I would love to attend. The entire Groth clan sends our deepest condolences to the family.
