Karin
Slovik

Karin Ruth Slovik (nee Larson) was called home to her Savior on April 7,
2026. Karin was born on September 18th, 1958. Karin’s life was centered
around her family and faith. She was the beloved wife of David Slovik for
nearly 46 years. A loving and devoted mother to Mark Slovik, Kristi (Tim)
Utsch, Kari (Mark) Nimmer, Jennifer (James) Laknahour, and Amber (Joe)
Archimede. She had 13 grandchildren who were her world: Arianna, Olivia,
Mason, Nathaniel, Kylie, Amelia, Miles, Isaiah, Arabella, Emmett, Elijah,
Sophia, and Eliana. A loving sister to Susan (David) Holm, Mark (Debbie)
Larson, and Paul (Diana) Larson. Also a loving sister-in-law to Kathleen
(Michael) Klosiewski, Susan (the late Mark) Kleczweski, and Diane (the late
Michael) Rappa. Karin is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other
relatives and friends. She is joined in rest with her father and mother
(David and Ruth Larson) and her father-in-law and mother-in-law (Robert and
Nancy Slovik) along with other relatives and friends.

Karin was born two weeks early and her family liked to joke that it was the
only time she was early for anything in her life. Her carefree spirit did
not care for the punctuality that life often required. She was baptized
into the faith on October 5, 1958 and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Oak Creek on April 30, 1972. She attended Edgewood Elementary,
Oak Creek Middle School, and Oak Creek High School. It was in high school
where she met the love of her life, David. They graduated together in 1976.
Karin was so excited to attend her 50th class reunion this summer and catch
up with old high school friends. After high school she attended UW Oshkosh
for one year, before transferring to UW Milwaukee where she obtained her
bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. Karin and David married on September 20th,
1980, after being together for five years.

Karin’s hard work ethic was evident throughout her entire life. After
college, she started her career at Delco/Delphi (General Motors). She
worked there for nearly 27 years, working her way up to line supervisor.
After GM closed down, she pursued her love of art and returned to school to
obtain a Graphic Arts degree from MATC. With that love of art, Karin taught
7-8th grade art class at St. John’s Mukwonago for many years. She also
worked for Chef Jack’s Catering, primarily as a bartender alongside her
husband, and loved connecting with every person with whom she interacted.

Among her proudest accomplishments was raising five children, who were her
pride and joy. Karin was unceasingly loving, selfless, generous, and kind.
She never hesitated to give and help others and always cared for her loved
ones more than herself. Karin’s endearing spirit led her to befriend and
share her smile with anyone. Amongst many things, she loved gardening,
baking, cooking, and her dogs (and granddogs). Her love of art was evident
in the beautiful way she decorated her home, arranged her flower gardens,
and shared her gift with her grandchildren. Karin loved to travel and
recently took several trips out of the country. Their home away from home
was in Arizona, which Dave and Karin visited frequently. However, Karin’s
favorite place to be was with her family, especially her grandchildren. The
love she shared with them will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Karin was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mukwonago for
the last 30 years, and before that an active member at St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Oak Creek. She taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and
volunteered whenever she could, always letting her light for Jesus shine
inside and outside of the church. She loved to tell her students how
important it was to spread Jesus’ love and preach the Gospel everywhere
they went. Although Karin had her share of difficulties, her faith in Jesus
never wavered. Her steadfast faith helped her persevere and hold a positive
attitude because she knew that her Redeemer lives. Everything Karin did,
she did with love, and that love will live on through everyone who had the
privilege of knowing her.

Visitation is Saturday April 18th from 9:30 – 11:00 am at St. John’s
Lutheran Church located at 410 W Veterans Way, Mukwonago, WI 53149. Funeral
service to follow at 11:00 am.

Private internment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Memorials appreciated to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mukwonago or the
Waukesha Humane Society in honor of Karin.

*I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the
faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me,
but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (1 Timothy 4:7-8)*
