John Phillip Huffcut, age 83, of the Town of Poygan passed away after a battle with lung cancer and heart and kidney failure on Thursday, November 14, 2014. He died peacefully in the arms of his loving wife of 62 years this November, Georgia (Paukner) Huffcut.

John was born October 8, 1931, in Waupaca to Myron and Elna (Christianson) Huffcut. For over 21 years, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. John and Georgia retired from the Air Force in 1971 in Milwaukee and he worked in private industry for 13 years retiring permanently to the Town of Poygan. For the past 30 years he spent his dream come true in his log cabin home fishing and boating on Lake Poygan with his wife and family. John served as the Town of Poygan Planning and Zoning chairman for 20 years.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. John was surrounded by much love from family and friends.

John is also survived by three daughters, Pam (Karl) Fetter, of Wautoma; Michele (John) Pena, of Milwaukee; Terry (Paul) Badura, of Milwaukee; six grandchildren, Mandria Fetter, Nicole Fetter, Lisa (Josh) Reed, Amy Zorc, Johnathan (Beth) Leanna; Demetria (Nathan) Pautz. He was a loving great-grandfather to Damian, Tashina, Dante, Anthony, Christian, Isabella, Lilliana, Johnathan, Austin, Emily, Freddy, Payton, Jaxson, and Leo.

Along with his parents, John was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Leanna, who preceded him in death by one year; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Geraldine and Laverne Trinrud, Eleanor and William Robinson, Betty and Larry Ruth, JoAnn and Kenneth Palacz, and one infant sister.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, November 17, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, November 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. 84th St. Greenfield, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the Arlington Park Cemetery, 4141 S. 27th St. Greenfield.
