Joanne M. Kihlmire

Joanne M. Kihlmire, a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on July 28, 1935, Joanne leaves behind a family who meant everything to her and a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved her.

Family was the heart of Joanne’s life. She cherished the time spent with her husband, Leonard, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding her greatest happiness in being surrounded by the people she loved most. Her love was woven into the everyday moments of family life, creating memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles for generations to come.

Joanne had a special talent for making a house feel like home. She had a passion for cooking, especially traditional Polish dishes, and enjoyed baking and sewing. Whether she was preparing a favorite meal, filling the kitchen with the wonderful aromas of something freshly baked, or sharing her talents with those around her, Joanne had a way of showing her love through the things she did. Her kitchen was more than a place to cook. It was a place where family could gather, share stories and enjoy the simple pleasures of being together.

Joanne’s greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely to her family. The lessons she passed along, the traditions she kept alive and the countless moments she shared will remain part of her family’s story. Though her absence will be deeply felt, the love she gave will never fade.

Joanne is survived by her beloved husband, Leonard Kihlmire; her daughter, Kathleen (Wayne) Macewich; her son, Michael (Kelly); her grandchildren, Paul (Ashly), Ashley (Ben) Hempel and Brett (Kaylyn); and her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Miriam, Elliott, Mila and Maven. She is further survived by her brother, Ralph (Donna) Machowski; her sister-in-law, Marie Imperati, wife of the late Bruno; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mae Machowski, and her great-granddaughter, Josephine.

Joanne’s family invites relatives and friends to celebrate her life during a memorial visitation on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Homes, 4800 S. 84th Street, Greenfield. A service celebrating Joanne’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Honor Flight are greatly appreciated.

Joanne will be remembered for her love of family, her generous heart, and the warmth she brought to the lives of those around her. While she will be dearly missed, her love will live on in the family she treasured, the traditions she passed down, and the memories that will forever hold her close.
