Jessica Ann Roark (Gibbons) was born to eternal life on Sunday July 25, 2021.  Born on June 3, 1981 in Milwaukee, WI.  Adored daughter of Robert and Cheryl Gibbons.  Loving mother to Jayden, Mylo, and Kian Roark and former wife of Stephen “Wally” Roark. Sister of Heather and Christina Gibbons, Amber Forster, and Celestine Woychik. Granddaughter to Duane and Virginia Freiberg, preceded in death by William and Joan Gibbons.  To her family and friends she was known as a dedicated mother who was compassionate and strong.  She was always fun to be around with her vibrant smile and great sense of humor.

Jessica completed her teaching degree at Mount Mary college and went on to complete her Master’s degree at UW-Milwaukee.  After college Jessica taught high school Spanish at Whitnall High, West Allis Hale, West Allis Central, and Nicolet High School.  During her time at West Allis, she enjoyed many trips abroad.  One of the things she most enjoyed was immersing herself into the culture with her students. To her students and colleagues, she was known as a wonderful mentor, advisor, and friend.

To all who knew her, she brought joy and guidance.  Though she was taken from us too soon,  we will cherish the lifetime of memories we shared.  Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday July 31, 2021 at Heritage funeral home located at 9200 S 27th Street in Oak Creek.  Visitation will be from 10am-12:45pm with a service to follow.  If you would like to contribute in the support of her 3 sons, a GoFundMe has been set up in her honor.

Thoughts and prayers for you at this time. I’ve known Jessica for a long time, since she was a student teacher at Central. She always had a great sense of humor and was such a hard worker–a real passion for teaching. She was also creative and inspiring. She was adored by all her students and well thought of by her coworkers and administrators at Central, as well as at Hale. I will greatly miss her and was blessed to have had her in my life. I am sure the same is for everyone that knows her.

As a colleague at Nathan Hale H.S. and as my son’s Spanish teacher at Nicolet, Jessica was always such a kind, caring, and dedicated teacher and person. The circle of her influence extends wide as does the sadness at this great loss.

You were just so funny. Always in good spirits. Even in an awful situation you made light of it. You always seemed to see the positive. And oh my, Get you and Santi together and then there was trouble. You both were such pranksters. You made work enjoyable. I was always sad that you left Hale as you just left such a big impact on our students and colleagues. I always wanted to hang out again. You are and will forever be greatly missed

I had Mrs. Roark as a Spanish teacher at Nathan Hale and went on the 2013 Costa Rica trip with her as well. I have very fond memories of that trip and the people that were there. Mrs. Roark and the rest of the Spanish teachers were awesome!

I had Mrs. Roark my sophomore year for spanish &
homeroom . She was one of the most caring and thoughtful teachers I ever had. She helped me through a really tough time in my life & always gave the best advice. I’ll never forget our after school talks. She really looked out for her kids and always went above and beyond to make sure everyone was alright. I remember the day she told me she was leaving central. I was one of the first people to know, she told me not to tell anyone yet. I was so upset because she was my absolute favorite teacher. I’m so grateful to have known her. She will be missed dearly.

Jessica was full of life and laughter. She always had a warm heart and a helping hand. Her spirit and laughs were contagious and I enjoyed being around her presence. She made you feel valued and I am forever grateful I was fortunate to have been her colleague and experienced Ecuador with her. My most sincere sympathy to all who grieve her loss.
