Jerry Long, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 16, 2025, after a long battle with kidney failure and heart disease.

Born in Fort Wayne, IN on March 31, 1942 after which his family moved to Milwaukee, Jerry lived a rich, loving life. He joined the Marines when he was 17. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours in the Far East including the Philippines. Following his military service, Jerry started his career as a blue collar worker and proudly worked his way to being a Quality Manager in the manufacturing industries.

Jerry was known for his sense of humor and love of his family. He enjoyed spending all the time he could with his family. He enjoyed many years of traveling around the country with his wife, Lynn Chabot-Long; and his adoring in-laws Al and Lucille Chabot. He and Lynn scuba-dived, sky-dived, zip-lined, mountain hiked, walked on fire, explored caves and danced under waterfalls all around our country and several others. They enjoyed shooting guns, archery, and golf. He was ordained in 2015 and officiated several family celebrations.

Jerry was always community minded. He worked to help individuals with emotional difficulties through the Center for Creative Learning and Healing Warrior Hearts. Jerry found it his honor to help others no matter what they needed.

Jerry will be missed by one and all. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynn Chabot-Long; his children: Carol Long, Pamela Long, David Long; and his step-sons: Richard Santarius (Mandi), and Sean Santarius (Marianne). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Robin Santarius, Dominique Roquemore, Amanda Roquemore, Jazmine (Andrew) Smith, James Sky Maglio-Long (Christine), Jaydin Roquemore; and his “adopted grandchildren,” Hasan Al Rubaye and Manar Al Rubaye; his great-grandchildren: Ava, Haven, Jaxen, and Walker; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and greats. He is predeceased in death by his parents: James Long and Treva DeLong and his brother and sister: James Long and Janet Long.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jerry’s life and share happy memories at a Celebration of Life on July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 9200 S. 27th Street, Oak Creek, WI 53154. Military honors will be presented at High Noon (there will be no religious service), a luncheon will follow. Jerry will be cremated. He has a plot in the military section at Arlington Cemetery where his headstone will be placed, but he will not be interred there.

As we gather to celebrate Jerry’s amazing life, let’s celebrate the man who loved everyone, could fix anything (his work room was the envy of all), and loved to dance through life. Rest in peace my love.

My husband and I met Jerry & Lynn in 2010 when they came to Quebec for a Chabot gathering at Château Richer. Along with his brother-in-law Russell and his wife Ann, we showed them several places that might interest them. We had a great time with them; they’re fun-loving people with whom we shared many wonderful moments. They love to be surrounded by family, and their hearts are always open to helping others. We followed Jerry via Facebook during his many health problems, and although he has left this earth for a better world, he will always remain in our hearts as a good man. The days, months and years will be difficult for Lynn, but I am certain that Jerry will continue to be at your side to watch over you and all those he loved. With all my love Diane Chabot Pard (I sympathize with your grief)
