I will always appreciate Jan and Tom’s testimony of surrendering their marriage to God and of his transforming Holy Spirit power for them. That has been an encouragement to so many! Jan also had a great love for mission work abroad and lots of personal stories of her own to share. Tom – I am so thankful that you and Jan were surrounded with the prayers and care of the family of God at Divine Shepherd during Jan’s final moments here on earth and you will continue to be held up Tom. We all rejoice with you and your family on her homecoming in Heaven with Jesus and that is truly where her hope lay. May our Lord comfort and strengthen all of you through this time of loss in your life.

May the Lord give you His great comfort, Tom and family. My memories of Jan include the remembrance of a Godly woman who cared greatly for our Nursing School classmates. She took the time to keep us all informed about what was happening with all the other classmates. She was refreshed over and over by our gracious God through His comforting Word. How wonderful that she spend her last moments there in her church home worshiping Him.

Jan was a classmate at Milwaukee Hospital. Her smile and warm greeting will be remembered and missed. May God bless you all as you cherish the memories you hold dear.

When my husband died, Jan sent me a note which comforted me greatly; it was this:
“Too soon, too young; but—safe in the arms of Jesus.”
Though this is shocking news, it is a joy to know she, too, is safe in the arms of Jesus.
With love and sympathy,
Janet Guhl (Nursing classmate)

I grew up knowing Jan since I was a young child threw the Divine Shepherd Luthran Church Family. Jan & Tom use to come over to our house to bible studies & then as I got older she helped me in growing in my Faith with Jesus. I continued to go to several different bibles studies in which she led. She was a great teacher of our Savior. This past Sunday we got to talk before the church service & then after we left to go get lunch to get a phone call saying Jan had past on to her Heavenly Home. It is so odd that I won’t be able to ask her ?s on teachings of the Bible anymore. So happy she is no longer in pain & know my mom is visiting her along with many other church family members that went before her. RIP Jan, A Dear Friend

Jan and I are second cousins and we bonded the first time we met. Our mothers made sure we spent time together in summer, even though we lived far apart. An only child yearns for a sister and for many a summer Jan and I ran around her town, laughing, hiding, and watching the boys (maybe 12 years old?) Such good memories.
I did not know she was ill and am so sorry we didn’t get to meet last summer as we had to postpone our WI trip. 2016 we were gong to try again, but it will wait for Heaven now to meet again and laugh.

So sorry for your loss. I will miss her wonderful smile and all the help she gave me on my family tree. So glad we got to see each other at the family reunion this summer. Please know she will be missed, but is in a better place with the many family and friends that went before her. God be with you all at this sad time.
Cousin, Sharlean and Dick Johnson and family.
