Of the Town of Raymond. Passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 age 77 years. Beloved husband of Arla nee Patterson. Dear father of Joe Anna, Pat Ann, Thom, Larry Lisa, John Julie, Mike Christy Ertl and Mary Greg Victor. Loving grandfather of Diane Brandon Rader, Mike, Sarah, Casie, Ellie, Kelly, Kim, Joe, Jim, Tina and Jacob. Great-grandfather of William, Katie and Timmy. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Thecla nee Kolb Ertl and his granddaughter and her husband, Susan and Adam Bukowski. Further survived by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 10am at ST. LOUIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 13207 Hwy G in Caledonia. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday at the FUNERAL HOME from 4 – 8pm and Friday at the Church from 9am until the time of the Mass 10am.

Jim was born on September 19, 1932 in Marshfield, WI. His early schooling was at St. Michael’s in Hewitt, WI and he then attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, WI from 1946 to 1951. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. On November 3, 1955, he married Arla Patterson Ertl. Jim was employed at Sears Roebuck for 33 years and Pick n Save for 8 years. Jim was proud to have served St. Louis Parish on the church council and as a Eucharistic Minister and lector.

Jim enjoyed playing sheepshead, having coffee with his friends, being busy outdoors and selling at the West Allis Farmers Market for over 50 years.

Jim loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. If so desired, memorials to St. Louis Church, St. Lawrence Seminary or to the charity of your choice appreciated.
