Herbert (Tex) Ritter III, 65, born February 3rd, 1954 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2019.  Tex graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1973.

He spent his younger years working at his family’s tire shop (Herb’s Tire Service – Firestone) and supper club (Herb’s Bullpen).  He later transitioned to a career with Industries for the Blind where he would gain many acquaintances and friends including his loving wife Helen (Solchenberger).  He worked at Industries for the Blind for 8 years before transitioning to Walmart where he worked for 15 years as an Inventory Specialist.  He retired in 2005.

Tex was a fun-loving, boisterous man who had a knack for sarcasm and was known for his tell-it-like-it-is attitude.  He and his wife, Helen, always welcomed their family and friends into their home for cookouts, pool parties, and other celebrations.  Tex always had a video camera handy to capture the moment. Staying current on the latest technology trends was a true hobby as well as a passion for his abundant music collection. He was a true entertainer.

While having a vision impairment since birth, Tex never let it keep him from enjoying life.  He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and on special occasions could be found in his favorite Cowboy hat and boots.   He was a member of the West Allis Lions Club for over 30 years and both he and his wife were members of BOLD (Blind Outdoor Leisure Development).

Tex is survived by his sister, Linda Jacobchick, and in-laws, Carol Jeske, Dale Solchenberger (Cindy), Kandis Warner (Spencer), Kathy Parish (Doug), Kenny Eckelberg (Debbie), Kris Eckelberg (Brenda), Karina Noll (Kip), Kelly Eckelberg, and 9 nieces and nephews and even great-nieces and nephews their beloved dog, Bella.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his mother and father, Margaret and Herbert Ritter II, sister, Kathie Ritter, and in-laws Brenda Miller, Wanda Solchenberger, and Allen Solchenberger (Pat).

The family will be having a visitation and memorial service on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at Heritage Funeral Home (6615 W Oklahoma Ave, Milwaukee, WI). Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the service begins at 1:00 pm.

While the family appreciates flowers, if you so choose, you may instead make a donation in Tex’s name to the Wisconsin BOLD Association: http://www.wisconsinbold.com, or the West Allis Lion’s Club: http://e-clubhouse.org/sites/westallisw/
