Born in Milwaukee on January 16, 1949., he was predeceased by his parents, Bernhardt (Ben) and Betty Ann (Urban) Naumann. Greg was baptized at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in 1949 and was a 1967 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School. He attended MATC and UW-Milwaukee.

Greg is further survived by his beloved wife and best friend Sharon, and his cherished brothers and sister, Mark (Sue), Burt (Stacey) and Kristi. Loved by one daughter, Jessica (Jim) and one son, Brad (Erika) and also loved by two step children; Lori (Joe) and Kathy (Michael). In addition, he was “Grandpa Greg” to 12 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren (one who preceded him in death).

Greg was blessed to have served a 32-year career with the Wauwatosa Police Department from

1969-2001, starting as police aide and retiring as Operations Captain. Since 1988, Greg also taught police recruits at several different Police Academies, along with many Criminal Justice, In-Service, First Line Supervisory and Police Management courses. Shortly after his retirement from the Police Department, he was called by his congregation at Fairview Lutheran Church to serve as their Staff Minister of Outreach. Greg enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing in Minocqua with his dad, brothers, cousins and good friends. Two of his favorite vacation get-aways were Sanibel Island, Florida, and St. Germain, Wisconsin. He is now at home in his Father’s safe embrace for eternity and looking forward to seeing you again.

A time of gathering will take place on Thursday, December 4th at Fairview Lutheran Church (137 N. 66th Street Milwaukee) from 12-2pm. The service will begin promptly at 2pm.

I enjoyed singing in the choirs with Greg, as well as the Men’s Bible Study with fellow Fairview members and friends. My condolences to Sharon, and Greg’s family.

Though I do not know him personally, his story and life leave a lasting impact that will forever be in the hearts of the ones who knew him. His work he did for Christ will be one that lasts eternally and will be much rewarded. I thank him for his service to our community and the time he gave to serve others. I am praying for the family in this time of grieving. For his wife, children, and siblings. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. This is not forever, only see you soon!

    With much love,
Christina (Kristi Windsperger’s coworker and friend)

    Dear Sharon and family,
Our deepest sympathies for you and your family. What a blessing Greg was to you and the church. It sounds like he was able to share his faith with many. “Forever with the Lord”, is a comfort for believers in the risen Savior, Jesus Christ. We’re sorry we are not able to greet you in person.
    Sincerely,

Dear Sharon and Family – We are happy for Greg to be in the presence of his Savior, our Lord Jesus! All of us on Uncle Bert’s side of the family have fond childhood memories of our cousins, from when we were growing up in Milwaukee. We are praying that the certainty of the resurrection in Christ will bring you lasting comfort. “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” John 11:25-26

Greg was a forever friend starting with our Class of ‘67 at Wisconsin Lutheran High School and a dedicated servant of our Lord here on earth. He lived his faith in all the ways his path in life by ‘God’s Hand’ forged for him.

What a beautiful and devoted legacy
will shine always and keep his presence
in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
