Born June 25, 1922 died peacefully Thursday, February 24, 2005 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer?s. Gil was preceded in death by hi wife of 46 years Regina Louise nee Lindenberger, son Thomas and parents Andrew and Pearl Harenda. He is survived by brother Raymond Harneda and sister Evelyn Bednarek, sons Gilbert Beth of St. Louis, Robert Susan of New Berlin, daughter Margaret Jeff of South Milwaukee and son Chris Michelle of Waukesha. Gil is further survived by grandchildren, Nicole, Mark, Amy, Megan, Nicholas and Thomas. Gil is also survived by his wife Carol Harenda of Oak Creek.

Gil was a lifelong resident of Bay View. He attended St. Adalbert?s Grade School, Boy?s Tech High School and was a long time parishioner of St. Augustine?s. He worked for Eaton Corp. for 46 years, retiring in 1988 and was a member of Lodge 1061 of the IAM.

Gil served with distinction in the U.S. Army in Europe between1942 and 1946. He was with the 3rd Army and fought in the Ardennes Forest, with General Patton?s relief column to Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge and participated in the liberation of numerous concentration camps.

Gil was a loving father, husband and devoted family man. His warm, congenial personality will be deeply missed. His Catholic faith was very important to his life.

Special thanks to the staff of Willowcrest Nursing Home for the loving care and attention given to Gil during the last months of his life and to his wife Carol Austin and the Austin family for all the care and help so generously given to our dad. Memorials to the family will be greatly appreciated. So long Gil.

Visitation will be Monday February 28 from 4 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home with a Parish Vigil at 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 1 at ST. AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO CHURCH, 2530 S. Howell Ave. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
