Gilbert “Gillie” Hagemann
Gilbert “Gillie” M. Hagemann, resident of the Village of Raymond, was born to eternal life, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, at the age of 96. Beloved husband of the late Audrey (nee Lewandowski) for more than 63 years. Loving father to Bob (Sally) and Albert (Pam) Hagemann. Proud grandfather of Abigail, Megan (Jon Held), Kaitlyn (Robert) Meeks and Kevin (Karlee Burris), and great-grandfather of Jayce Hagemann, Westlynn Meeks. Gillie is survived by special cousin, Jeanie Hagemann and sister-in-law, Marilyn Lewandowski along with many loving nieces & nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Gillie was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Regina (nee Block), his wife Audrey (2023) as well as many other relatives and friends.
Gillie met his forever love, Audrey and they enjoyed farming, raising their family, playing cards, dancing, listening to polkas, staying close to extended family members and practicing their faith. Gillie loved snowmobiling, attending as many of Bob’s auctions as possible thanks to his nephew, Larry, attending the Racine County Fair to watch his grandchildren and great-grandson exhibit and catch up on all the news while sitting in the antique tractor tent. He was taking part in tractor rides well into his 90’s and he retired from farming at the age of 91.
Gillie was a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia where he ushered for over 50 years. He spent over 30 years on the Raymond Volunteer Fire Department, 26 years on the Racine County Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors, 22 years as a Racine County Fair Director, 12 years as a Raymond 4-H Beef Leader. Gillie served in the Army briefly until he was called home to run the family farm with his mother due to his father’s poor health. Gillie hauled milk back in the days when milk cans were used and at one point worked 7 days a week for 2 years straight. He was employed by Toledo Scale/Mettler Toledo, Franksville in Research and Development until the time of his retirement.
While at Pine Brook Pointe, Gillie was loved and well cared for by the entire staff. It was almost as if his family grew a little larger because of them. There are too many to mention by name but the family would like to thank Barb, Erica, Val and Jelly who watched over Gillie when the family couldn’t be there.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home – Oak Creek (9200 S. 27th St.) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church (13207 County Highway G) from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
If so desired, memorials may be made to the Racine County Agriculture Society or to the family for a memorial in Gillie’s honor to be determined.
