Gerald Michael Casaletto
9/6/1932 – 6/26/2025
Gerald “Jerry” Casaletto was born to Victoria (nee Dziadura) and Rocco Casaletto (aka Robert Casey) in Chicago, Illinois on September 6, 1932. They pre-decease him as do his two older brothers, Nicholas and Eugene.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Jerry graduated from Wells Highschool and attended North Park College for 1 ½ years. He is a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Korea with the 62nd Engineering Topography Company printing maps and earned the Korean Service medal, the Bronze Campaign Star, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.
After his honorable discharge in 1954, he began his career at Allstate Insurance Company as a Printer Apprentice. Among other positions, he managed the Purchasing Department, but felt his biggest achievement was establishing the Recycling program for the entire Allstate Headquarters campus in Northbrook, Illinois. He retired from Allstate in 1994 after 45 years with the company.
Through his barbershop singing, he met and married Beverly Stetter in 1961 and their son Mark was born the following year. Jerry adopted her 4 children, Dan, Pam, David and Cindy. They were married for twelve years.
Again, through their barbershop hobby, he met Linda Tetrault. Married in 1979, they, their son, Joseph and daughter, Claudia, lived in Arlington Heights, IL until moving to Oak Creek, WI in 2017.
Jerry loved to sing and perform. He sang in his first barbershop quartet in highschool. Over the years, he sang in several pickup and registered quartets, most notably The Onstage Majority, the Noteabouts, and Return to Harmony.
Over his 35+ years in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Jerry also sang with several barbershop choruses in the Chicago Metro area and joined the Arlingtones when he and Linda made their home in Arlington Heights, IL. He became a charter member of The New Tradition Chorus in Northbrook in 1982.
He and Linda elected to “take a break” from their very active choruses when their two children arrived but diverted to community theater after a few years. They found themselves affiliated with several theater groups in the NW Chicago Suburbs. His most notable roles were McGregor (Brigadoon), the baritone in the Music Man Quartet, Grandpa Cairnes (Oklahoma), Lloyd Phillips (Rehearsal for Murder), Professor Metz (The Man Who Came to Dinner) and several roles in “Now Museum, Now You Don’t” (Theater in the Rough).
Jerry’s family belonged to The Orchard Evangelical Free Church for over 20 years. He and Linda were members of their 90-voice choir which toured Germany and Austria in 1996. When contemporary services were established, they joined Highest Praise, an 18–20 person ensemble which sang once a month at services as well as appearances elsewhere.
Linda utilized Jerry in several church performances while she was drama director, most notably in the children’s musicals Zeroes Into Heroes (Uncle Ezra) and Nic at Night (Nic).
Jerry was very kind to Linda’s mother, Grace, who was living at our home when she became a total invalid from 2011 until her death in late 2015. With Linda away much of the time as a flight attendant, it fell to Jerry to care for her 24/7…a job not many sons-in-law would do.
In the last 5 years, Jerry declined mentally and was diagnosed with dementia. He loved his television and sports and amazingly switched over from the Cubs to root for the Brewers!! A favorite thing for him was getting out to Racine Bible Church on Sunday. He loved Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and had wonderful times singing in the choir and spending time with members of “Students of Grace” Bible Study.
Jerry died peacefully at South Shore St. Luke’s Hospital on June 26th after a rapid decline in his health over the previous week. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda, his children Joseph (Kate) Casaletto, Claudia (Nate) Sieger, and Mark (Amy) Casaletto, grandchildren Vinny Casaletto and Sylvan and Charlotte Sieger, as well as his adopted children and several grand and great-grandchildren from his previous marriage.
Jerry’s funeral will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME (9200 S. 27th Street, Oak Creek, WI). A memorial visitation will be from 1-3. p.m. followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m. His ashes will be interred at MEMORY GARDENS in Arlington Heights, IL (2501 E Euclid Ave) on Thursday, July 31st at 1:30 p.m. Any local friends who wish to attend are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to either the Racine Bible Church Benevolent Fund – Casaletto Memorial, 12505 Spring Street, Racine, WI 53117 or to the Greendale Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, 1252 Dorchester Drive, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
