Frederick Albino Ciatti

Passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025 while in hospice care in Wauwatosa, WI at the age of 93. He arrived into the world on September 5, 1932, on the family farm in Pence, WI. Fred was the second-youngest of seven children born to Attilio and Clara Ciatti. He spent his childhood working on the family farm in Pence, along with creating mischief with his friends and his younger brother Dominic (Poncho). Fred was a multi-sport athlete at Hurley High School, and he was a particularly good football running back.

He left Wisconsin, at the age of 17, to join the US Army. He served in the US Army Signal Corp in Okinawa from 1950-1952. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Wisconsin to finish high school and he graduated with the Hurley High School senior class of 1953. Fred sought work in Milwaukee, doing various stints at several different factories until finally landing at Rexnord in 1956. He worked in the Shipping Department at Rexnord, in various roles of increasing leadership, over the course of the next 38 years.

On October 21, 1967, Fred married Anita Behrendt – a marriage that spanned almost 58 years! Fred and Anita had two children: Stephen Ciatti (Amanda) of Bellingham, WA and Vincent Ciatti. Fred continued to be a very active person, engaging in company softball and bowling leagues, well into his 50s!

Fred was very involved in the activities of his sons, supporting their school activities, music recitals, Little League baseball games, cross country and track meets, and numerous other activities. Fred loved to play with his sons in the yard, regardless of sport or time of year. Basketball in the driveway, football in the street, baseball up against the garage.

Fred was also the loving grandfather to three grandchildren: Sophia, Tessa and Michael Ciatti. One of Fred’s favorite activities was to watch the activities of his grandchildren – soccer games, swim meets, music recitals and more. Fred loved to play with his grandchildren, particularly at the beach or in the pool! His laugh and warm hugs will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren!

Fred is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Attilio and Clara Ciatti, brothers Clarence, James, Emil, and Dominic, sisters Lorraine and Mary. Fred will be known for his sense of humor, the ease with which he laughed at life, even when it was difficult, and his ability to make people feel comfortable around him.

A Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home (6615 W. Oklahoma Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53219) on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, with lunch to be served around 2:30 pm.

I had several great conversations with Fred during the years Amanda and Steve lived in Lombard. He was always friendly, and I looked forward to the next time I’d see him!
