Rev. Robert J. Novotny

Born to Eternal Life Sunday, May 5, 2013, age 88 years. Born on April 29, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Alois and Myrtle (nee Smith) Novotny. Father Novotny attended Saint Francis Minor Seminary and completed his priestly formation at Catholic University of America. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 27,1950 by the Most Reverend M.E. Kiley, Archbishop, Archdiocese of Milwaukee, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.

Father’s priestly ministry began as the curate at Holy Rosary Parish in Milwaukee on June 15, 1950. He then served as an assistant at: St. Joseph Parish, Waukesha (appointed July 28, 1950); St. Gall Parish, Milwaukee (appointed November 23, 1951); St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Kenosha (appointed May 12, 1952); St. Lawrence Parish, Milwaukee (appointed June 1, 1956); St. Matthias Parish, Milwaukee (appointed July 7, 1960). Father Novotny completed special studies in music at Catholic University in 1958. Father was curate at Holy Ghost Parish, Milwaukee (appointed July 1, 1963). June 8, 1965 he was appointed to the faculty of Pio Nono High School in St. Francis. June 1, 1972 Father was appointed to the faculty of De Sales Prep Seminary High School and St. Francis de Sales College. He was appointed to his first pastorate on August 1, 1981 at St. Catherine in Mapleton. On September 15, 1984 he was appointed pastor at Holy Rosary Parish in Milwaukee, serving the parish until his retirement from active ministry on August 31, 1991.

Visitation Thurs. May 9, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Three Holy Women Parish – Holy Rosary Church, 2011 N. Oakland Ave.

Private interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
