March 24, 2009 age 97 yrs. Preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings. Dear uncle of Jerry Hood, Donna Rae Schulz, Jacque Magnuson, Marvin Wilson and Raymond Price, Jr. Further survived by other relatives, friends and his beloved friend Winifried “Fritzie” Reid. Memorial Services Sun. Mar. 29th, 3pm at Palmer Chapel at the Village at Manor Park, 3023 S. 84th St. with fellowship time to follow.

Eugene was the Valedictorian of O’Fallan High School in Nebraska, but because of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, he was unable to continue his education until much later. He joined the Army in 1941 and was stationed in Kodiak, AK where he was on the ski team before being sent to Europe. After his discharge as a Captain, Eugene graduated first in his engineering class of Montana School of Mines, now Montana Tech. After graduation, Eugene was hired by Allis Chalmers where he worked as an engineer until his retirement in 1977. Over the years, Eugene received 5 US Patents, was published in various engineering journals and served as the Team Captain for the Allis Chalmers Golf Team winning many championships over the years. In 1985, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from Montana Tech. In 1989, Gene established the “Eugene W. Price Distinguished Professorship in Biotechnology” at the University of Nebraska.

He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in West Allis where he was sang in the Choir, was a long-time trustee and was instrumental in the renovations of the heating/cooling system. Over the past several years, Gene earned 40 medals from the Senior Olympics and at the age of 91 he received the gold medal in shot put, discus, javelin and golf.
