Emma was a very loving person and her family meant everything to her. She was active in her community. When her daughter Marianne came home from school in the second grad wanting to join the Brownies, Emma took Marianne to a Brownie meeting. Emma started out as an assistant troop leader, became troop leader, neighborhood chairman, district chairman, was elected to the board of directors of the Blue Heron Girl Scout Council of Waukesha and became Public Relations Director for the council. She then was elected President of the council and served two terms. She was also on the original board of directors for the New Berlin Library. Emma served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and she met her soon to be husband at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. She is a life member of Lamster Newmann VFW Post #2787 and now the VFW Post Auxiliary in Pewaukee, WI.
