Elizabeth McKee Christensen Fitzgerald

Of Nashville, died on Sept. 20, 2012, at the age of 86. Born in Milwaukee, WI, to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Christensen. She attended the Milwaukee Lake School, the Milwaukee Downer Seminary and subsequently graduated from Finch Jr. College in New York City in fashion design and then in later years from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee with a degree in Fine Arts. She is survived by her husband, Edmund B. Fitzgerald, whom she married in 1947, her four children Karen F. (Carl) Lindsay, Denver, CO; Kathleen (Peter) Picoli, Long Island NY; E. Greer (Pamela) Fitzgerald, Ironwood, MI; and Rogers C. (Karen) Fitzgerald of Sydney, NSW, Australia. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, her sister, Eugenie Ebert and brother, Thor (Joni) Christensen, both of Milwaukee. She was a life-long member of the Junior League, a board member of the Nashville Ballet, a member of the Nashville Opera Guild, and an active volunteer at Traveller’s Rest, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Centennial Club, Brook Meade Garden Club and the First Center for the Visual Arts. She was also President of the Milwaukee Planned Parenthood Board, and a member of the Milwaukee Family Services.

Funeral services were held September 26, 2012 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, of Nashville, 4715 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205.

Burial shall be in the Fitzgerald family plot in the Forest Home Cemetery, in Milwaukee, WI. Services will be held 11:00 AM Fri., Sept. 28, 2012, at Forest Home Cemetery Chapel, 2405 W. Forest Home Ave. (entrance on Forest Home Ave., at 26th St.). Family will receive friends at the Chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. George’s Episcopal Church, of Nashville, 4715 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205; Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art, 1200 Forrest Park Drive, Nashville, TN 37205; Frist Center for the Visual Arts, 919 Broadway,Nashville, TN 37203.
