Bogle, Warren Cyrus Sr., MD
Born in Marseilles, IL, the son of George “Cy” and Florence Bogle, on Feb. 4, 1921, and died peacefully in his sleep at home on July 28, 2010. Although in poor health in recent years, Warren still enjoyed his family, all sports and military history. In June of 1944, he married his beloved Barbara Anne, of Waterloo, Iowa, who survives. They recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. Warren attended Kemper Academy and the University of Southern California before he graduated from the University of Iowa in 1942 and then from its medical school in 1944. He completed his internship at Augustana Hospital in Chicago in 1945. He enlisted in the US Navy while in medical school and served his country during and immediately after WWII in the Pacific and the Philippines. Upon his release from service, Warren practiced medicine in Center Point and Marion, Iowa, until he was reactivated by the US Navy during the Korean War and sent to Great Lakes where he was able to learn more about the new and exciting area of medicine called anesthesia. After serving at Great Lakes, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota. Warren practiced medicine in both Madison and Milwaukee, became Board certified in anesthesiology, and twice was elected Chief of Staff in anesthesiology at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee. He was recognized by the American Medical Society for his 50 years of medical service. He also was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and AKK medical fraternity.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Warren is survived by their four children: Warren C. Bogle, Jr. of Oak Creek, Linda A. Christians of Lawrenceburg, IN, Jeane L. Bogle, of Waukesha, and Susan E. Smith of Grand Junction, CO. He is further survived by eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A private military memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of any flowers, memorials may be given to the Rescue Mission or the Salvation Army or sent in care of the family for donation.
