Dorothy Marie Wengelewski, 92, of Greendale, Wisconsin, succumbed to congestive heart failure on September 27th, 2023.

Dorothy is survived by daughters Cindi (Mark), Kathy (Bob), Vicki (Wes), and Chris (Jeff), sons Henry (Terri), Carl (Julie), and Tom (Tara), grandchildren Benjamin (Diana), Jonathan (Tami), Sarah (Mark), Laura (Charlie), Hannah, Matthew; Patrick, Rachel (Ty), Megan (Jaelen); Zachery, Jessica (Kris), Valerie; Alex (Tyler), Melissa (Jay), Emma, Olivia; Peter (Julia), Bryan, Daniel (Gina), Michael; Kayla, Bella, Henry; Tyler, and Ryan; great-grandchildren Mary, Mark, Amy, Anna, Eve, Evelyn, Emma, Alana, Jackson, Natalie,  Addie, Gordie, Millie, Daphne, Charlie, Jones, Margot, Jacob, Kate, and Violet. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Henry Wengelewski, parents Hipolite and Catherine Brzonkala, sisters Rose Marie and Patricia, and son-in-law John Saber.

Dorothy was born in Milwaukee 09/09/1931, graduating from Pulaski High School.  She had a lifelong love of music and the stage: playing the french horn, working for theater companies in Milwaukee, and enjoying musicals and theater. She was a tennis player and a golfer enjoying both sports, and the joy of playing them with friends and family. She proudly had a hole in one at Tuckaway Country Club in 1989.

Dorothy’s biggest passions and joys were her family, her friends, and her faith. Her most cherished prides were her 59 years of marriage, her 7 children and their spouses, her 25 grandchildren, and her 20 great-grandchildren (a number that is still growing out of her love). She adored to share time and laughs with so many close friends over the years. And all of those relationships, and outlook on life, were formed by her deep Catholic faith. Something Dorothy revered, taught to her family, and carried with her throughout her beautiful ninety-two years with us.

Dorothy was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 13th, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (6060 W. Loomis Rd. Greendale) starting at 12pm noon.  A visitation will be held Friday, October 13th from 10am until the time of mass.  Interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Milwaukee.

    May Dorthy rest in peace.

Over the years she has became more than a customer. She was someone that I looked forward to seeing when I had to come over to help with things around the house.

We would set for hours talking about life , kids, and gardening. I will miss those days. My heart goes out to the family for their loss.

Dorothy and I were best friends from the time we were 14 years old until we married. We were blessed to rekindle our friendship recently. I wish it had been sooner. I am grateful for the many memories we shared. May God Bless her and may she rest in peace.
