Dorothy Charlotte Johson, 79, Passed away Thursday April 26, 2001. The second child of Tracy and Diana Thayer Burnham, she was born on November 16, 1921 in Hebron, WI. She was a lifelong resident of Palmyra. She was The devoted wife of Norman K. Johnson and a dedicated mother of Five Children: Terry Donna Wenzel of Palmyra, WI. Diana Bill Thomas of Dousman, Charlotte deceased 1993 Peter Shepeck of Wheaton, Illinois, Annyd John Fairchild of DePere and Candy Jim Patrick of Ladysmith. She was a proud grandmother of 10: Paul Kari Johnson, Carolee JohnSamson, Justin and Josh Thomas, Karla and Christopher Shepeck, Erin and Alee Fairchild, Amy Terry Viegut and Brad Patrick; a very proud great grandmother of : Alyssa and Aaron Johnson, Kelsi Hessen, Kasi Samson, Bailey and Wyatt Viegut. Dorothy was the loving sister of Dean Marie Burnham of Dayton,Ohio, Pattie Fred Frick of Wauwatosa, Barbara Lou Shook of Colorado Springs and Allie Harold Figi of Janesville. Sister in law of Joyce Johnson of Kiel, WI. She was a special Aunt to many nieces and Nephews.
Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress doing sewing and alterations throughout the years, she was employed by the ER Moore Company in Palmyra many years ago, ahe volunteered as a Brownie Troop Leader, she possessed a beautiful singing voice which brought joy and comfort to all who heard her sing. She was a member of the Board of Education 1957-59, She retired from the post office in 1983 after 20 years of service, she was postmistress for the last four years. She was a Past Matron of Rob Morris Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy and Norm were the Honored Old Settlers of Palmyra in 1995, she was one of the organizers of the Palmyra Historical Society ,served as a member of the board and held the office of treasurer for 16 years. She belonged to the Palmyra United Methodist Church having served on the Administrative Board and various committees.
She is preceded in death by her father Tracy, in 1980, her mother Diana, in 1936 ,her daughter Charlotte, in 1993 and 1 Grandson, in 1965
Visitation will be Sunday April 29 from 4-8 PM at the PALMYRA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 122 N. 5th st Palmyra Funeral service 11 AM Monday April 30 with visitation from 10 Am until the time of service at Palmyra United Methodist Church. Pastor Jerry Lipka conducting services.
In Lieu of Flowers memorial will be given to various organizations that meant so much to her. A memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s name at the Palmyra State Bank.
