Doris Parker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1 at the age of 92 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Doris was born of Ethyl and Orland Marsh May 14, 1919 in Ames Iowa and grew up in Ames Iowa, Rockford Iowa, and Mount Morris Illinois. She was preceded by her sons David Reed Starr b 10/2/1948, d 2/10/1998, Dennis Clair Starr b 9/4-1947. d 11/10/2003 and her brother Donald. Doris is survived by Philip Starr Susan of Wauwatosa Wisconsin, Phil’s Ann’s daughter Catherine, and son Andrew, and by Chris Brown Starr David and Bonnie Brown Starr’s son in Houston.
Doris received her BS degree in Institutional Management from Iowa State University in 1942 and was accredited in Medical Technology by Rockford Ill Memorial Hospital in 1956. She practiced Hematology until 1975.
Doris lived in Shorewood from 1987 until she moved to St John’s on the Lake in 1999.
Doris was involved in almost every activity at St John’s. Her favorite was “Forever Friends:
Established in 1998, FOREVER FRIENDS Inc. emerged from a program Sherry Power, M.Ed., began in 1986. Power’s program linked her second-grade class from Brookfield, Wisconsin, with elders at St. John’s on the Lake – a Milwaukee independent living facility – in a year of intergenerational activities.
