My condolences to my cousins for the loss of their mother. I remember as a child going over to Aunt Doris’s house in Franklin. It was full of activity — lots of children, the washing machine seemingly going all the time, and all of you cooperating with chores and projects. I remember Aunt Doris welcoming my brothers, my parents, and I just as though we were part of the family. I was amazed at how she kept her cool in the midst of all that activity, and how she orchestrated meals to include not only the biggest family I had ever known, but also guests such as us. I think what you all had back then, what you all shared, is what family is all about. I feel honored to have known your mother, and her memory will live on within me. Perhaps there’s solace in the fact that she lives on all the more strongly within each of you.
