Dolores Clara Haertle
(nee Werner)

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 92 on February 9, 2024. She is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Haertle. Loving mother of Joseph (Julie) Haertle, Mary (Robert) Grilli, Diane (Mark) Sowinski, Nancy (Peter) Monday. Dear grandma to Jenna, Eric, Christopher, Joseph, Mary, Kathryn, Peter, Heather, Adam, and Rachel.
She lovingly cherished her 11 great-grandchildren.

Dolores was born on April 23, 1931, to Henry and Catherine Werner and is survived by her sister, Kathleen Molling, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph and Camilla Haertle.
She is further survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A life-long Milwaukee resident, she and Bob raised their family in Bay View where they were active members of St. Augustine of Hippo parish. Dolores lived a life of sacrifice and gave much of her time to volunteer activities in her church and community.
She instilled the importance of service to others in all her children.

28 years ago, Dolores and Bob made their new home at Alexian Village in Milwaukee where they continued volunteering in their new community.
They spent many joyful years there and leave behind many dear friends.

Her family remembers her for her gentle love, kindness, patience, and generosity. She was unparalleled when it came to organization and the ability to work. She often said, “Hard work never hurt anyone.” Dolores was also a skilled seamstress, talented cook, and baker, receiving requests from her friends for specific desserts. She personally felt that it wasn’t a meal without a dessert!

I have fond memories of hanging out at your Bayview home after school at St. Augie’s. Your mom always made me feel welcome. I can’t ever recall her sitting down, but rather, in constant motion! She was a good friend to my mom. Condolences to your family.

Joe and Camilla——-I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear sister-in-law. From what I read, she was a very special and caring woman who spread love, cheer, and kindness throughout her life.

We remember Delores from the days when we both lived in Bay View. We always remember that she could do absolutely anything she set her mind to.

We used to go out with her and Bob to listen to music at a hotel near the airport. We so enjoyed those times.
