David F.
Agnew
November 11, 1951 – November 1, 2025
David Francis Agnew of Sheboygan, WI, passed on to eternal life on November 1, 2025, after a 7-year battle with dementia. David was born in Burlington, WI, to Willard and Roberta Agnew on November 11, 1951, the sixth out of eight children. He attended Saint Francis de Sales Seminary on the path to priesthood when he met the love of his life, Susan Sturm. David and Sue were married in April 1976. They settled in Sheboygan and dedicated their careers to helping others – David as a social worker and Sue as an occupational therapist. He dedicated his entire career to his patients at Catholic Charities where he served with patience and compassion. After Sue’s passing in 1986, David raised their two children in Sheboygan. He often shared that Sue told him they would be wonderful gifts to him throughout life, to which he always said, “and she was right.” He often spoke of Sue’s Barbara Streisand-esque voice and the honeymoon/trip to Italy they took with a choir group. He appreciated music until his final years. David also tried his hand at woodworking and art over the years, and he became quite creative. He was also proud to be Irish and an avid Badgers, Packers, and Brewers fan. His last couple years of his life were challenging, and the family thanks his care teams for keeping David as safe, comfortable, and healthy as possible. David is now reunited with his Sue, something he wanted for a very long time.
David was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan (Sturm) Agnew, his parents Willard & Roberta Agnew, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ronald and Gertrude Sturm, his brothers John & Jim Agnew, his sister-in-law Mary Kay (Bultman) Agnew, his sister-in-law Sue (Andreini) Agnew, and his nephew Chris Agnew. David is survived by his children, Matthew (Julie) Agnew and Sarah (Chris) Richter; his grandchildren, Kennedy, Cecilia, Roderick, and CJ Richter, and Hazel Agnew; and his siblings, Bob (Marge) Agnew, Kathy (Neil) Kugelmas, Dick (Judy) Agnew, Mary (Jim) Robertson, and Gerry (Sue) Agnew, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of David.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 12:00 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Matthias Church in Milwaukee, WI.
I and others would do weekly visits and bring him Communion.
We would talk about his seminary days and priest friends we both knew. We
Would always end with him Lord’s Prayer which he had to say in Greek!’ He was very proud of Matt and Sarah and the grandchildren. May he rest in peace.
Thanks, Mrs. Straus! ❤️
My deepest condolences to all of you. While I know that he is in a much better place for him, it leaves a hole in your lives. Celebrate all of your good memories with him.
Thanks, Maggie! We appreciate it. ❤️
Dave was a lot of fun in the seminary back in those days. Bright, cheerful personality.
For a while in our dorm, Dave and I shared tips with each other on playing the guitar.
I even think he had a name for his guitar– Stella.
God’s open arms welcome him now.

I’m so sorry. I’m thinking of you all and sending love. ❤️
