To the Herold family, I have zillions of fond memories of being at your house drinking Tab out of the tin cups by the fire and learning how to load a chip with dip while Dad and Dale came up with all the ways they could make a “mint” with their latest invention. I seem to have inherited that dreamer spirit from them. I loved it when Dale and Toby would perform their duet with the New Years Eve horn. I also learned a lot about enjoying food from going out to eat with you many, many times.(I can’t eat potato pancakes without ketchup.) Dale knew how to enjoy life and get a giggle out of everything. His impressions of his Mother & other people cracked me up. In Mexico, I picture him snorting up saltwater in the ocean (“It’s good for the sinuses”), trading cheap American digital watches for Mexican items and burning his belly. On the weekends when the magical hour of noon came, I knew he’d come by for a cocktail with Dad. My dad (Al Schmid) might “stick his two cents in” about Dale’s latest project. How lucky they were to have a lifelong friend. Dale would have been a good candidate for a reality TV show. It was always fun to just sit back and watch him in action. Dale, you will always be alive to me because I soaked up your enthusiasm for life and I carry it with me. Bunny (Judy Taitt)
